So my cousin Tom got shipped off to Afghanistan about a month ago.

His roommate was killed on patrol today. We don't know where Tom was, if he was on patrol with them or what. This is the same guy who has been his roommate since he started Ranger training.

Tom's mom called Grandma earlier today and said, if you hear about anything scary in Afghanistan, don't worry, Tom's okay.

I think I'm kind of in shock. That's kinda close.
